HYDRAGUARD
is designed to work in conjunction with a base plate and a P/N
4.5 light walled 225mm PVC storm water pipe.
HYDRAGUARD will center the hydrant in the well but only the bottom plate stops the 225mm storm water well pipe.
PLEASE ALLOW A MINUMUM OF 100mm BETWEEN BASE PLATE AND HYDRAGUARD to allow a stiff fit with the shroud assisting with backfilling.
1. First Gasket
Place an 80mm gasket on the 80mm hydrant flange.
(As you would normally do, round or square gaskets. It makes no
difference)
2. HYDRAGUARD on top
3. Second Gasket
The 80mm spring hydrant IS PLACED
IMMEDIATELY ON TOP and the M16x75 stainless
steel bolts are inserted.
HYDRAGUARD is meant to BE
PLACED IMMEDIATELY UNDER THE SPRING HYDRANT
for ease of future maintenance.
HYDRAGUARD has A
SPECIAL SEALING NOTCH INSIDE THE BOLT HOLES
which may require the bolts to have a
"light tap" with a hammer to go through the hole. This is normal.
The longer M16x75mm stainless
steel hydrant bolts are required for HYDRAGUARD
installation.
THESE ARE SUPPLIED WITH THE
KIT.
This is to get the unthreaded bolt shank all the way through the
HYDRAGUARD plate bolt holes to make a seal with
the inner notch. If the usual 50mm hydrant bolt is used, the
bolt thread can be used as a pathway by the ants. The M16x75mm
S/S bolts can be inserted either up or down through the plate.

INCORRECT: M16x50mm

THE SN1- P/N 4.5 Thin wall
225mm PVC STORMWATER PIPE is installed down
over the HYDRAGUARD plate and into the base
plate.
You will need some pipe lubricant to ease the 225mm PVC pipe
over the HYDRAGUARD sealing ring. Angling
the pipe slightly to one side as you push it gently over the
rubber ring - helps to east it on.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO ROLL THE SEALING
RING out of its locating slot when pushing the 225mm
on. If this occurs try again
with more pipe lubricant.
Make sure to keep the PVC pipe 90 degrees to the HYDRAGUARD
plate, essential for a seal with the outer rubber sealing
ring.
KEEP SPOIL OUT OF INSTALLATION
TO STOP CAPILLARY PLUGS FROM BEING BLOCKED.
Finish off with a hydrant box and lid. Note that HYDRAGUARD has centred the hydrant in the well. Try to avoid getting dirt in during installation.
